faith expressing itself through love
Our Current Vocation
Zeke is shoveling snow, Phoebe is riding a yellow bus to school, we’re buying macaroni and cheese in a box and three-dollar snow pants from a thrift store… this must be the United States of America!
BACK IN THE U.S.A. That’s right, we’ve moved back, and this time it’s kinda permanent. We’re staying in a trailer house owned by a church in Whitewater, WI, for the next few months. We’ve set aside from now until June to have a bit of sabbatical, finish Adam’s MTh thesis, and travel and speak about Chrissy’s book. At the same time, we’re investigating where we’ll be for the next few years.
But to fill you in on the last few months, on December 1st, through teary eyes, we watched South Africa drift away from our airplane windows. From July 2008 to December 2009 we served at the Evangelical Seminary of Southern Africa (ESSA) in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, after two years in a rural home a few hours from there in South Africa. We have loved our students and friends at the seminary, our church, fellow home schoolers, and friends we met along the way. It took much prayer and discussion to finally accept that God seemed to be calling us back to the United States for a few years.
AND UP NEXT… So now, back in the U.S., the most frequently asked question (after, “How do you like this weather?”) is, “What’s next?” Well, we’d also like to know the answer to that question. Adam hopes to use his communication skills, training, and experience for a cause he’s passionate about. Most options include raising all or part of our salary. Chrissy will be teaching a course in Economic Development of Developing Countries for Eastern University again this year and hopes to move toward a PhD to qualify her for more teaching of that sort.
COMING TO YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD! In early February, we’ll be in Michigan. In late February, we’ll cross IN, KY, TN, and spend time in GA and FL. March will find us traveling through NC, VA, and MD, with more time in PA and MA, and back through OH and IN. If you’re in on this route, please remind us so we can find you!
